Government of Georgia to Discuss Tax and Customs Codes with PublicOn 21 November, ESM Tbilisi hosted a meeting on the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia. The Minister of Finance presented a package of draft changes before professors and students intended to streamline the fiscal system, cut a variety of taxes with the ultimate goal to encourage local entrepreneurship. In turn, the changes would add to the attractiveness of the investment environment. The goal of the new Tax Code is to prevent double interpretation of any of its articles and assure its uniform application by tax authorities and business circles as well.

Prime Minister of Georgia Takes a Ride in New Modernized TrainOn 20 November today, the Prime Minister of Georgia has taken a ride in the new modernized train. From Tbilisi Central Station, Grigol Mgaloblishvili traveled to Grakali Bridge to check on the works being done there.

Georgian Development Project to Receive Additional $100 MillionOn 20 November 2008, at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel, Prime Minister Grigol Mgaloblishvili and John Danilovich, the Executive Director of US Millennium Challenge Corporation, signed an amendment to the Contract made in 2005 by and between Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Government of Georgia. The amendment is intended to allocate 100 million US dollars in addition to the current program ($295,2 million), as a result of which the financial aid allocated by Millennium Challenge Corporation to Georgia will reach 395,3 million US dollars.

Prime Minister Attends the Opening of Prison HospitalOn 18 November today, the Prime Minister of Georgia attended the opening of a medical facility for convicts and prisoners in Gldani. The construction of the facility started in 2006. Now the facility is ready to operate in full swing.
