Meeting of the 26 November 2008

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 25 November 2008. The agenda consisted of 34 items.

Before the commencement of the Meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia focused on the transfer of assets to the Patriarch's Office. Bishop Theodore and Father Andria were also present at the Meeting. Grigol Mgaloblishvili welcomed the representatives of the Patriarch's Office and stated: "in recent days we have actively worked with the Georgian Patriarch's Office to identify the assets that at this point we are transferring to the Georgian Patriarch's Office and that had belonged to the Church of Georgia."

"We've been working actively with the Patriarch's Office to transfer the assets which are identified by the Concordat on the one hand, and to transfer the assets that will facilitate the strengthening of the role of the Church in Georgia, on the other hand. I'd like to present some 25 properties located in different parts of Georgia: in Tskaltubo, Zugdidi, Ninotsminda, Tetri Tskaro, Khelvachauri. In Khobi Municipality, Kazbegi, Kutaisi, Bolnisi, Dusheti and Rustavi. We'll continue work to make sure the the additional requested properties are transferred to the Patriarch's Office as soon as possible."

In conclusion, the Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to have wider communication with people to make sure that the public is better informed of all the issues that the Government is working on.
