Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2009 Year

Meeting of the Government as of November 18, 2009

Meeting of the Government as of November 18, 2009 On November 18, 2009 the meeting of the Georgian Government was held. There were forty-five issues put on the agenda.

Before the meeting was held Nika Gilauri, the Prime-Minister of Georgia made a statement concerning several issues:

"In order to support the private sector as much as possible, the Government has recently voiced new initiatives according to certain initiatives of the President of Georgia voiced at the previous meeting of the Government, which are as follows: include the private sector representatives in the Board of Dispute Settlement, reduce the number of companies close-up and raise its sense of responsibility.

I would like to voice some other initiatives and assign the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economics to fulfill the same.

I would like to ask the Ministry of Finance to create a hotline which will work specifically on discussion of the private sector claims. Any case of incident, such as misbehavior of the Tax or Customs Departments, shall be promptly advised to the Ministry of Finance and the Investigation Department. Furthermore, I would ask the Ministry of Economics to be more active on the international front. We shall support the Georgian companies to establish relations with the foreign countries, overtake bureaucracy abroad and settle political problems. Sometimes Georgian investors and exporters are faced certain problems and we shall protect them.

One of the duties of the Georgian Government shall be providing support to the Georgian businessmen to make investments, carry out export and trade activities abroad. For this purpose I would like to ask the Ministry of Economics to form a new department which will receive respective information from the private sector and the Georgian businessmen, and then process it. We shall support Georgian businessmen to expand relations with the foreign countries.

I wish to make easier for our citizens to be in contact with the Government. It concerns the state property sales.

In our case, the state property is sold by three agencies: the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice. I want to ask all the three agencies to create a website: www.option.gov.ge, where all selling items will be placed. Such items include land, buildings, vehicles or any other things. Information on any item which is to be sold by the State shall be placed on this page and all our citizens and businessmen will be able to obtain respective instructions on how to buy property from the State.
Finally, I would like to assign the Government members to provide the information on presentations provided at the previous Government meeting concerning efficiency of the Ministries and Ministers for the current year and what are their plans for the following year.

Presentations will be held in the course of the Government meeting and it is necessary to provide the society with all recitals of the performance, outcomes and future plans of this or that Ministry. This year a lot of good things have been done though much is left to do and the following year will be too grave from this point, as there are many reforms to be carried out in the field of economics in our country"- Nika Gilauri stated.
