On December 30, 2009 was held the session of Georgian Government. The agenda included 32 items.
Before the beginning of the session the Prime Minister Nika Gilauri wished to those attended a Happy New Year and Merry Christmas. Nika Gilauri noted that he will meet journalists after the session and will summarize the annual results with them.
The Prime Minister highlighted the issue of cancellation of the supervision department. "The supervision unit is included in the ministry of economy. Within the past years we carried out many reforms aimed at maximum promotion of the private sector, eliminated all possibilities of corruption deals between the governmental structures and private sector. Unfortunately, there are still some units which are involved in money making only. We saw this last week when some officers of the supervision unit were arrested. This unit is cancelled now. Officially this procedure requires a certain time when the legal changes shall be made. The supervision unit has operated since the 90-ies of 20th century and the head of this department has not been
replaced for the past 10-15 years. They have had a very simple scheme of making money.
I want to warn every businessman that if somebody comes to them on behalf of the supervision department and tells that he shall examine the operations or claim money, they can directly apply to the law-enforcement bodies and this person will be arrested.
In addition I want to tell to all ministers that if there is any department or unit which does nothing but claims money from the private sector, the issue of cancelation of such units or bureaucratic mechanism will be motioned at the nearest government session", - Nika Gilauri stated.
