Prime Minister Awarded Businessmen On December 17, 2010, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, awarded Honest Taxpayer's Certificates to five Georgian companies having good payment histories: Sharavandi Ltd, Fashion House Ltd, Khashmi Ltd, Dagi-777 Ltd and a sole proprietor Tariel Gogitidze.

In order to motivate conscientious and honest taxpayers, the Government of Georgia advances the initiative of awarding Honest Taxpayer's Certificate. This is for the first time, that the Government grants such kind of award to business for cooperation.
Conscientious taxpayer carries out its tax liabilities honestly. Its relation with the state is open and transparent. Sums paid by such taxpayers are used for programs of highest priority and vital importance for our society:

 

• funding pensioners and teachers Prime Minister Awarded Businessmen
• health care and social programs
• education
• providing public order
• security of the country
• protection of cultural heritage etc.

 

Company holding Honest Taxpayer's Certificate will enjoy more confidence of the Government. Its data will be enrolled in general database of revenue service of the Ministry of Finance, as well as in the list of low-risk companies. Besides, according to the new Tax Code, sums charged to the company holding Honest Taxpayer's Certificate can be cancelled at the council of disputes existing at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, if a malefaction is caused by mistake. After awarding Honest Taxpayer's Certificate to the first five Georgian companies, the Government of Georgia hopes that the number of such companies will increase rapidly and honest activities and creation of better business environment will become a common interest of the Government and business. This initiative of the Government is an integral part of the New Course, which includes creation of fair, simple and reliable tax system in the country.
