On February 20, the Interagency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence held its second meeting. At the beginning of the session, welcoming speeches were delivered by the Prime Minister's Assistant on Human Rights and Gender Equality Sopo Japaridze and the Commissions Co-Chair and Deputy Justice Minister Gocha Lortkipanidze.
During the meeting, the commission discussed and approved the rules for selecting candidate(s) to the Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO) and the relevant special evaluation form for interviewing.
The commission discussed and approved three thematic groups with its constituent agencies to work on the following issues: 1) risk assessment methodology/enforcement of electronic monitoring bracelets for violent offenders, 2) behavior correction programs for beneficiaries protected by restraining orders, and 3) development of unified standards for maintaining statistics.
During the meeting, reports were delivered on the implementation of the 2016-2017 Action Plans for Measures to Combat Violence against Women and Domestic Violence and to Protect Victims and the Implementation of the UN Security Council's Resolution on Women, Peace and Security.
The Parliamentary Gender Equality Council's Representative Ana Tzurtzumia introduced the Interagency Commission to the draft of the State Gender equality Concept of Georgia.
The meeting of the Interagency Commission was attended representatives of state institutions, the Office of Public Defender, the Legal Aid Service LEPL, the Parliamentary Gender Equality Council of Georgia, and the Supreme Court of Georgia.
