Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2011 Year

Meeting of the Government as of November 18, 2011

Meeting of the Government as of November 18, 2011 On November 18, 2011 was held the meeting of the Georgian Government. The agenda included 107 items.

Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about data of economic activity. We present the Prime Minister's speech:

"Good day. I would like to get you acquainted with the data of economic activity of the last month. Preliminary data of economic activity of ten months are quite positive. In total, ten-month economic growth amounts up to 6%, which is 1% higher than expected by us and The International Monetary Fund, at the beginning of the year.

As you already know, we have input initial parameter amounting to 5.5% in the budget, and then this parameter was reviewed. We have agreed with the International Monetary Fund that minimal growth would be by 6% in 2011. Now this parameter is growing even more. We leave growth index of 6% officially but suppose that the economic growth will be higher in Georgia in 2011.

It is to be mentioned that this happens against the background when more than 20 countries have decreased their forecasts of economic growth index. This happens when there is a serious economic crisis in East and South Europe, when financial markets are at the edge of demolishing.

We were planning to present minority shares at international stocks, during the current year, although, we will not do this due to a very bad condition of international stocks."
