Government of Georgia – Prime Minister's Visits 2012 Year

Prime Minister of Georgia visits Hungary

On February 15-17, 2012 the Prime Minister of Georgia paid a working visit to Hungary.

In Budapest the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, met with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban.

Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the President of Hungary, Pál Schmitt, Speaker of Parliament Laszlo Kover, and representatives of the business circles of Hungary. After the meetings the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about the significance of the visit:

"I would emphasize several significant issues. First, supporting Georgia in NATO on the part of Hungary. This is one more vote among NATO members. Absolutely at all levels there was expressed support on the part of the Prime Minister, the President and the Parliament Chairman as well. The second and important part of the visit is signing of double tax treaty, which shall give Georgian and Hungarian businessmen the opportunity of more effective cooperation. Investments from Hungary are minor for lack of such treaty. We suppose that signing of it will result in quite intensive investment in Georgia on the part of Hungary.

The third quite interesting topic was the Agri project - transfer of Azerbaijanian gas and supply to Europe. Hungary is one of the participants of the project and one of the most interested countries. And at the end of the meeting with businessmen we talked about the reforms implemented in Georgia. Today it is a major problem that the Private Sector holds no information about the reforms carried out and Georgia".
