On June 21 the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili visited Romania. Irakli Garibashvili was in Bucharest as Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta personally invited him. Victor Ponta hosted his Georgian counterpart in the government residence.
With the Prime Minister of Georgia Prime Ministers of Moldova, Czech Republic and Serbia also were in Romania. The heads of the government held a joint conference on June 22.
The Prime Minister of Georgia spoke about the importance of signing the Association Agreement with EU and noted that with this step Georgia is moving on entirely new stage of the relationship. He thanked Prime Minister of Romania, Victor Ponta for strong support on the way to Euro Atlantic integration of Georgia and emphasized existing cultural and historical relations of two countries.
Irakli Garibashvili spoke about significant strengthening of the relationship with EU and Eastern European partners of its member states and declared that five years ago Eastern Partnership opened the new opportunities of strengthening cooperation with EU.
"We, from our side, confirmed our faith towards European way by successful implementation of democratic reforms and modernization of our society in accordance to European norms and standards. We steadily follow Euro integration course, which is the cornerstone for our foreign and internal politics. I would like to emphasize that the European choice of Georgia is based on support of 85 percent of population of Georgia and all key political parties," the head of Government of Georgia mentioned.
He thanked all friend states for sharing success of Georgia. Prime Minister of Romania, Victor Ponta in his turn expressed his satisfaction for the visit of Prime Ministers to Romania and confirmed support to Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova once again.
"I am glad, that I am hosting the Prime Ministers here and sharing our experience. Quite soon, the Association Agreement with EU will be signed which is very important. Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova keep moving towards European Union, and ultimate democratic reforms are conducted in those countries. We will always support those countries. Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova are moving on very important stage and coming closer to European Union," Victor Ponta stated.
