PM-Designate Outlines New Government Priorities Print Version

Georgian Prime Minister-Designate Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with members of the Parliament, including the Parliamentary Minority, during which he outlined the new government's priorities.
"Our priorities are to achieve a breakthrough in economic development, maximize the acceleration of economic growth, more effective enforcement of social obligations, strengthen our defense and create an effective foundation for education," stated Prime Minister-Designate Kvirikashvili.

He explained that in an effort to enhance Georgia's economic development, the government will utilize state programs to encourage the development of entrepreneurship.
He continued, "It will mean the creation of effective mechanisms for financing beginner businessmen, to allow young people with innovative ideas the opportunity to fulfill their plans, so that the spirit of entrepreneurship encompasses the whole country. New components will be added to the state program, Invest in Georgia, and agricultural support programs will be continuously adapted to meet the requirements of the private sector."
He added that the government will monitor and facilitate the growth of leading Georgian industries and service industry development, and will also invite international companies to Georgia to assist with implementing tourism development programs that have been successful across Eastern Europe.

"Maximum involvement of the population in tourism development will be insured. We will have additional funding and new components. The government will spare no efforts in this direction. In addition, special attention will be paid to the energy, transport and communication industries, as well as logistics and leveraging the potential for the Silk Road. Georgia needs to strengthen its image as a European country and become a true link between Europe and Asia - the realization of this function is very important," stated Prime Minister-Designate Kvirikashvili.

The Prime Minister-Designate further stated that important fiscal policy initiatives, which will minimize administrative burdens on businesses, will also be implemented.
He underscored that the new government remains committed to rule of law, transparency and sustained protection of fundamental freedoms, as well as continuing to cooperate fully with the Parliament.
