Overview of PM Visit to Lithuania Print Version

Georgia Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili conducted a two-day official visit to the Republic of Lithuania from November 4-5, 2015 to discuss opportunities to enhance bilateral relations and key regional developments.

During the visit, Prime Minister Garibashvili met with his Lithuanian counterpart, Algirdas Butkevičius, as well as Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė and the Chairman of the Lithuanian Parliament, Loreta Grauzhinienem.

Prime Minister Garibashvili and Prime Minister Butkevičius opened the first session of the Georgia-Lithuania Intergovernmental Economic Commission, and participated in the opening of Tbilisi Square in Vilnius.

In addition, Prime Minister Garibashvili visited the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Vilnius, as well as Vilnius University, where he met with Georgian students and Lithuanian students studying the Georgian language. He also met with key Lithuanian business leaders to discuss opportunities to increase investment in Georgia.

During his visit, the Prime Minister visited a memorial to pay tribute to soldiers who had died fighting for Lithuanian independence. He also laid a wreath on the grave of Datiko Machavariani, an officer of the Georgian Republic from 1918-1921.

The Prime Minister was accompanied on his official visit by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili, Minister of Agriculture Otar Danelia and First Vice Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze.
