The Government meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili at the Administration of the Government today. The cabinet of ministers reviewed 23 issues on the agenda.

In line with the provisions of the Government Ordinance, 68 more internally displaced families will be granted houses that were purchased by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia. The Ministry has relaunched purchase of the residential spaces rightfully possessed by the IDPs from their owners. As a result 18 locations have been purchased for 721 internally displaced persons in Tbilisi. Starting from October 2012 till now 12 800 internally displaced families have been granted the housing pursuant to the Government ordinance.

In line with the Government Ordinance, designing and construction of 15.5 km long Gurjaani-Bakurtsikhe bypass road will start. The cabinet of ministers approved the draft contract that will be signed between the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and a joint venture - Company Black Sea Group, LTD and Vahagn & Samvel, LTD.

Designing and construction of the highway will take place in a parallel mode. It will link Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi road (located near the Azerbaijan borer) of international importance with the Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe highway of the national significance. The contract on the project worth 38 000 000 GEL will be signed in the coming days.

The Government of Georgia also approved Technical Regulation of Planning and Constructing the Walking Routes that aims at fostering the tourism development. Public and private agencies as well as relevant associations and stakeholders interested in development of this area of tourism jointly drafted the said document.

Walking routes of various types will be designed and gradually constructed across the country in line with international experience and standards. The Regulation is based on the experience and standards of the countries, including Switzerland, France and Poland - where hiking tourism is well-developed. The document will regulate evaluation of the content and difficulty of walking routes, as well as issues related to the management of the infrastructure.
