2016-11-03

H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia chaired an Executive Government Meeting at the Government Administration of Georgia. Cabinet of Ministers has discussed 16 topics envisaged in the agenda of the meeting.

Cabinet of Ministers approved a Draft Resolution of the Government of Georgia on Financial Covenants for the Secondary Road Improvement Project financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the country.

In line with the decision of the Government, official negotiations will be held with ADB on the construction of Dzirula-Kharagauli-Chumateleti road. Almost 50 kilometers of the principal and access roads will be rehabilitated within the scope of the project, which will ultimately lead to the adjacent railway stations and Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.

Amendments were made to the Government Resolution N56 dated February 12, 2015 on the State Program branded as Plant Your Future. By taking into account the fact that blackberry and raspberry may be cultivated in every region of the country, this program was extended to cover the referred plants. They are fairly effective revenue-generating sources as high yield is harvested at small land parcels (in the range of 1-3 ha).

Respectively, adjustments will positively affect the small land holding farmers, especially in regions with small land parcels. Interest is also expressed towards the cultivation and further processing of industrialized quince plantations.

Prospects of successful cultivation of all three plants has been affirmed by Scientific Research Centre of Agriculture - legal entity of public law (LEPL) subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
