Canada highly appreciates the democratic reforms implemented by the Government of Georgia - respective statement was made by Stephane Dion, Canada's Special Representative to EU and Europe, and Canada's Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, during his meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

He also gave a positive assessment of the constitutional reform and the steps taken by the Government of Georgia in the human rights protection area.

The sides discussed all aspects of bilateral relations between Georgia and Canada, as well as cooperation in the political, economic and defense areas.

Prime Minister spoke about Georgian Government's plans for economic development.

The sides expressed willingness to engage in active trade and economic relations. Giorgi Kvirikashvili indicated that Georgia is open for Canadian companies and welcomes their wide engagement in the economic processes taking place in Georgia.

During the conversation, particular attention was paid to the regional developments and challenges.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani and the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Advisor Tedo Japaridze attended the meeting. Stephen Dion, Canada's Special representative to the EU and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, is paying a two-day visit to Tbilisi.
