"We highly appreciate the most significant moral and material support of Japanese authorities and people, which has been enjoyed for years and which has been extensively contributing to the development of Georgia" states Prime Minister of Georgia" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the reception held to mark the national public holiday of Japan - Jubilee of His Majesty Emperor of Japan.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, two countries are now friendly nations and it is gratifying that Japan is a loyal and trusted partner of Georgia.

"Last year we celebrated 25th Anniversary from the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Japan. It is gratifying that in this relatively short period of time we managed to achieve significant and tangible results. I am confident that the existing friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation will be further deepened in every possible direction" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia underlined the recently intensified bilateral relations and noted that cooperation is advancing in trade and merchandise, economy, arts and culture, education and tourism.

"We have successfully conducted most important negotiations towards the Bilateral Investment Agreement, which - I am convinced - will advance our trade relations to a new level. We are thrilled to see how our people-to-people relations are developing, along with cooperation of Japan and Georgia in the fields of education, culture and sports. I am confident that Georgia will succeed in demonstrating that we are a sporty nation with great achievements in Japan in 2019" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia believes that a milestone event was the first official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan to Georgia this year. Prime Minister of Georgia welcomes the vision of the Japanese Government and solidly supports the intensified engagement of Japan in the Caucasus Initiative.

"I cannot help saying with great pride the achievements of first Georgian ozeki Toshinoshin in 2018, who has brought closer our two nations. Success of Tochinoshin has led to higher interest and respect of Japanese people towards Georgia and brought Japan closer to Georgians. This is a clear example of how vital is the role of an individual in the development of relations between nations" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to H.E. Tadaharu Uehara, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Georgia for the contribution made in greater approximation of two friendly nations and expressed hopes that joint efforts of Georgia and Japan will be further deepened in the coming years to facilitate the peaceful and stable development of the countries.

Jubilee reception was attended by the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, representatives of the national authorities, media outlets, arts and culture celebrities.
