"Lietuva is a dedicated friend and supporter of Georgia, thus protecting our national interests at every international format" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia when summarizing his Official Visit to the Republic of Lietuva today.

Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the Lietuvan officials and noted that very productive meetings have been held with the Prime Minister and President of the Republic of Lietuva.

"We have bilateral relations in a lot of directions, which are advancing rather actively. Trade volumes are increasing year by year, though we believe that additional potential still exists in this area. Hence, Inter-Governmental Economic Commission will convene soon to try and identify new prospects of economic cooperation and to find a better utilization of the current links between the two countries. Lietuva has very striking success in the area of innovations and establishment of an eco-system in support of start-ups. We are making first steps towards this end and Lietuva is actively encouraging us in this area as well" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, it is very gratifying that number of tourists is increasing year by year. Prime Minister of Georgia is convinced that increased inflow of tourists in and between the two countries will be further supported by direct air flights between Tbilisi and Vilnius, which is scheduled to commence this year.

"Support enjoyed daily by Georgia from Lietuva is truly instrumental. Lietuva is an active supporter of our country within the European institutions and NATO. We have a new action plan and initiatives to make Georgia further more successful in its integration into Europe and Euro-Atlantic space. Naturally, support of Lietuva is of paramount importance. We were once again assured of this demonstrated support today and I wish to express my tremendous gratitude to our friends for this" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia also focused on the meeting held with students of the Vilnius University and noted that an interesting and thorough discussion was held at one of the oldest universities of Eastern Europe with its very rich traditions. Prime Minister of Georgia interacted with Georgian and Lietuvan students, who are studying Georgian language.
