"Veterans are essential part of our society that risked their lives to defend freedom and dignity of our nation. Hence, it is our duty to take great care and create suitable social and living conditions for them" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia after a meeting with David Sergeenko, Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Security of Georgia; Ivane Matchavariani, Minister of Finance of Georgia and Vladimer Imnadze, Director of State Service of Veteran Affairs.

As Head of Government of Georgia noted, regulations enforced since 2009 excluded over 23000 veterans from monthly social allowances.

"This issue should be addressed as soon as plausible. We should always remember that we have a tremendous moral obligation towards veterans" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia instructed amendments to be made to the applicable regulation, in line with which 23000 more veterans participating in the military activities for territorial integrity, freedom and independence of Georgia will be getting a social allowance of 22 GEL a month from May 2019.
