"Most important contracts will be signed today, according to which we will build three new airlifts at a most beautiful place" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia in Bakuriani and agreement was thus concluded with Doppelmayr Garaventa Group on the construction of three new airlifts.
As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, three new airlifts in Bakuriani will be built in the vicinity of Didveli for the World Championship of Ski and Snowboard Freestyle scheduled in 2023.
"As a regular Georgian, I am very proud that our country will host the World Freestyle Championship in 2023. It is a great victory and great responsibility at the same time. It means a tremendous trust, which has been demonstrated to us by the International Ski Federation. I wish to express my gratitude to them for this trust. It also shows that our international partners acknowledge that Georgia pursues the right, effective and targeted strategy for the development of winter resorts. Development of infrastructure only will not be sufficient of course to make Georgia a successful country for winter recreation. It essentially requires increased awareness. I am delighted that we managed to double the number of tourists to winter destinations in the past 4 years. Hence, development of highlands and winter resorts is the most significant priority of our government. It means that we need to make significant investments to make the resorts compliant with high standards" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, contract is signed with a leading company of the world - Doppelmayr Garaventa Group.
"We are signing a contract with a leading company of the industry. It is an Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr. It is a very important message from our side, as when we talk about the development of our resorts in Georgia, we essentially have a high threshold and will only cooperate with companies of similar ranking and quality" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, development of the infrastructure means more tourists and more jobs in Bakuriani. At the same time, it will increase the awareness of Georgia a country of winter resorts and best destination towards this end.
In the opinion of the Head of Government of Georgia, it is essential that Olympic Committee of Georgia filed a respective application and country has an ambition to host Winter Youth Olympic Festival in 2025.
"Mountains constitute to two thirds of our territory and it is a tremendous wealth that we have and we should take a special care of it. Some days ago I shared information with public on having a more ambitious goal and Olympic Committee of Georgia filed an application to host Youth Olympiad in 2025. It is a very ambitious statement, which means that huge responsibility will rest on us. Though, we stand ready to ultimately achieve this goal. World Freestyle Championship in 2023 and Winter Youth Olympic Festival in 2025 serve to the need of the main goal - gain experience and host Winter Olympic Games in Georgia. I am confident that we will succeed in this. Georgia deserves it and Georgian people deserve it. I am also positive that Georgia will be rediscovered again through hosting these tournaments as a country of best winter resorts. Once again, let me congratulate you with the status of a World Championship Host Country and wish great success to you all" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
