Government of Georgia – Appearance 2007

Vladimer Gurgenidze met with the politologists and economists

On December 23, a meeting was held at the Strategic and International Relations Research Foundation where the Prime Minister of Georgia Vladimer Gurgenidze met with the politologists and economists. He began his presentation by extending thanks to the audience. According to his words, the government arranges such meetings regularly, because this format of interactive meetings is very useful and interesting indeed. This is where the experts can share their ideas on the current economic situation in the country and on the economic priorities and future plans in this respect. - "I had very interesting meetings at the Institute of Public Affairs, the Aleksandre Chavchavadze Museum, with the editors-in-chief of the printed media and with the leading journalists of the country; next week I am going to visit the University and meet with the students of various other high education institutions", - said Vladimer Gurgenidze.

According to the words of the prime minister, the government will present the economic programs and the budget of 2008 before the public in nearest future: "The format of a public dialogue is a style of our management. We will always give the Georgian public the opportunity to draw their own conclusions on the effectiveness of our work. By the end of the year 2008 you will be able to make your own assessments to what extent successful our efforts proved to be. At this stage, a lot of events took place at one time: it's the end of the year, a new project of the budget has been drafted and we are facing the upcoming elections. We are going to discuss all these in the format of concrete actions and not on the level of mere rhetoric, as it usually happens in case of a number of opponents. I stand ready to answer any of your questions and speak before you about the challenges awaiting us and on the strategic issues as well; I am ready to discuss the time period and the amount of funds necessary to combat poverty and unemployment in Georgia. I would like to reiterate that to achieve all this, we need to maintain stability in the country", - the prime minister asserted.
