Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2007 Year

Meeting of October 25, 2007

On October 25, 2007 was held the Meeting of the Government of Georgia. The agenda consisted of 39 items.

In the beginning of the Meeting the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli informed the members of the Government that the next week in Vienne, London and new-York will be held investment forums. He stated that those forums are of great importance for attraction of investment capital to Georgia. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the agendas of forums and noted that there will be presented the investment environment of Georgia, indices of the macroeconomic growth of the country on the basis of which we will expect implementation of additional investments in Georgia, higher rates of economic growth until the year-end and within the next year.

Today, continued the Prime Minister of Georgia, we will consider the draft budget for year 2008 where rather significant changes will be made. In practice, the budget is now taking the final look. Our top priorities are the same again: the social sphere, education sphere and extra expenses in those directions; next year the expenses in energy sphere will be considerably decreased because this year we are finalizing solution of all problems and, in practice, the sector has been already formed. If something is to be made in this sector more, this is attraction of the investment capital to new generation objects; will be continued investments for improvement of road infrastructure. These are our main directions.

At the investment forums we will also discuss on preservation of economic growth rates of Georgia on the high level, - stated the Prime Minister in the end.
