The Georgian Prime Minister was on his working visit in Azerbaijan where the 16th International Exhibition and Conference "Caspian Oil and Gas 2009" was arranged on June 1-2, 2009. Up to 500 delegates from 30 countries took part in the conference, including representatives of the State Department of the United States of America. The key topic of the Conference was the new energy projects, namely, NABUCO, TETRI NAKADI and Transcaspian gas pipeline.

The Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri spoke at the International Conference: "It is the fourth time that I attend this conference, but first as the Prime Minister. Azerbaijan has proved that it is a vitally important country for the region, both as a strategic and alternative corridor which directly goes to Georgia. We'll prove that we are reliable partners, for example, Baku-Ceyhan and Erzrum projects. We have never put Europe on the spot. The fate of the future energy projects will be sealed in this region. We mean NABUCO project, Transcaspian main line and TETRI NAKAD that will connect Georgia and Europe along the Black Sea".

Within the framework of the visit the Prime Minister met the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev and the Azerbaihjanian Prime Minister Artur Rasi Zade. The main subject of the conversation was cooperation between the said two countries and the projects to be implemented within the scope of this cooperation.

"Georgia has no energy problem with Azerbaijan. I'm talking about new infrastructure and strategic projects, as well as the 500- kilovolt line the construction of which we'll start this year and finish the next year. Besides, we also talked about the gas reservoir designing of which is currently financed by MCG. We also discussed the issue of Kars-Akhalkalaki railway", said Nika Gilauri.
