Head of Government Administration and Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia Meet UN Women Officials Print Version

Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration along with Niko Tatulashvili, Human Rights Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia and Maka Peradze, Head of Human Rights Secretariat at the Government Administration met UN Women officials today.

Close cooperation between the Government Administration and UN Women was highlighted at the meeting along with the significance of supporting past and pending projects towards strengthening gender equality and fight agains violence against women.

Discussion was also related to the performance of the Interagency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence. Also, the process of developing a National Strategy and Action Plans for the protection of human rights was reviewed at the meeting today.

Special role of UN Women was noted in the process of developing a National Action Plan for Implementing UN Security Council Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security, as well as an Action Plan of Measures Intended Against Domestic Violence and Protection of Victims (Affected Individuals).

UN Women officials once again stated their readiness to facilitate the reforms currently implemented by the authorities of the country.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was attended by Åsa Regnér, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women for Policy, Programme, Civil Society and Intergovernmental Support; Alia El-Yassir, UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia; Kaori Ishikawa, UN Women Country Representative to Georgia and Tamar Sabedashvili, her deputy.
