On Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's decision, financing for religious organizations increases by 1 million GEL. To compensate religious unions for material and moral damages suffered under the totalitarian Soviet regime, the 4.5-million GEL assistance issued prior to 2022 will increase by 1 million GEL.

The Prime Minister's decision was announced today by Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze during a meeting with the leaders of religious organizations, at the Government Administration.

Representatives of religious organizations thanked the Prime Minister for enhancing financing and underlined the enormous importance of this decision.

The Georgian Government's decision to enhance financing for religious organization-made as a result of consultations with the State Agency for Religious Issues-is based on several important points, including the numbers of religious organizations' congregations, clerics, and houses of worship. This amount, one million GEL, will be allocated from the Georgian Government's reserve fund to be distributed among religious organizations by the State Agency for Religious Issues.
