Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Miloš Vystrčil, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

The meeting focused on eth close cooperation between the two countries, including active relations between their legislative bodies.

The conversation also touched on furthering the cooperation between the two countries, in the sectoral direction among others. According to the Prime Minister, it is commendable that, alongside the visit of the Senate's President, the Joint Commission is holding its regular meeting in Tbilisi to define the future economic cooperation agenda between Georgia and Czechia. The Head of Government also underlined the special importance of projects financed by Czechia for bolstering Georgia's European integration.

Miloš Vystrčil reassured the Head of Government of the support of the Czech Republic for Georgia's European integration. The Prime Minister emphasized that Georgia welcomes Czechia's upcoming presidency in the Council of the European Union, also expressing hope that, in light of the new reality emerging after Georgia's bid for EU membership, the Czech Republic, including through its presidency, will maximally support the advancement of this issue in the EU. According to Irakli Garibashvili, democratic consolidation, empowerment of the rule of law and good governance, and respect for human rights remain the key priorities on the Georgian Government's political agenda.

The meeting also discussed Georgia's progress toward NATO integration, as well as the upcoming Madrid Summit.

Georgia's support for Ukraine, in both bilateral and multilateral formats, was emphasized.

The Head of Government thanked the President of the Senate of the Czech Parliament for Czechia's support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Prime Minister emphasized Georgia's commitment to peaceful conflict-resolution.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Czech side: Petr Mikyska, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Georgia, also by Chairman Jiří Drahoš of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights and Petitions of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, Zdeněk Nytra, Member of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, Václav Láska, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, and Jiří Dušek, Vice Chairman of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, and representatives of the Georgian side: Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Czech Republic Mariam Rakviashvili, and Interim Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.
