New road of almost 110 kilometers from Samtredia to Chorokhi allows for commuting bypassing the Black Sea recreation zone and it is utterly important for cargo transportation, advancement of tourism and improvement of the environment in the zone of tourism. It was stated by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia when inspecting the construction of the Grigoleti bypass road today.

The Head of Government of Georgia was briefed about the progress of construction works by Irakli Karseladze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, thereby noting that works are actively progressing at a 14.5 kilometer-long fragment of the Grigoleti bypass road. According to the blueprints, Samtredia-Grigoleti road will link to the Kobuleti bypass road, while the traffic will be channeled through a highway from Grigoleti towards Kobuleti.

Within the scope of the project, an asphalt-concrete road with 4 lanes is 14.4 kilometers long and it will be built with 22 bridges, 4 traffic junctures, water flow pipes and underground passages.

Rampart, underneath layer, foundation, asphalt surface, bridge passing stilts and abutments will be arranged and iron-concrete bobbins will be installed.

The Grigoleti Bypass Road Construction Project is funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB) with 228 MLN GEL.

The Prime Minister of Georgia was accompanied to the site by representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities.
