"We have certain changes in the composition of the government, which relate to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Environmental Protection and Agriculture," announced Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a briefing held today at the Government Administration.
Before introducing the ministerial candidates, the Prime Minister thanked Ilia Darchiashvili, Rati Bregadze and Otar Shamugia for their work and emphasized that each of them made a significant contribution to the country's achievements in recent years.
"As you may well be aware, today the updated composition of the Government of Georgia is being presented to the Parliament for a vote of confidence. We have certain changes in the government, specifically concerning the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Environmental Protection and Agriculture. Before I proceed with the nominations, I would like to thank Ilia Darchiashvili, Rati Bregadze, and Otar Shamugia for their work. Each of them has made a very significant contribution to the success our country has achieved in recent years. Once again, I express my deepest gratitude to each of them. I would also like to inform you that all three of them will continue in high positions in the civil service, and we will share the details with you later," stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.
For the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister nominated Maka Bochorishvili and highlighted her successful diplomatic career spanning over 20 years.
"I present to you the candidate for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will be submitted to the Parliament of Georgia - Maka Bochorishvili. Like other candidates, she does not require special introduction, but I would like to remind you once again that Maka Bochorishvili has extensive experience in the diplomatic service. She served very successfully in the diplomatic field from 1999 to 2020. Since 2020, she has been a member of the Parliament of Georgia and Chairperson of the Committee on European Integration. Her work has significantly contributed to our success in various areas, including the progress the country has made in its European integration, including obtaining candidate status, in which Maka Bochorishvili played a major role. Maka Bochorishvili is a lawyer by profession, has graduated from the Diplomatic Academy, possesses the necessary education and experience, speaks several foreign languages, and has been awarded the Order of Honor. I am pleased to present Maka Bochorishvili for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, and her candidacy will be submitted to the Parliament today," stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister introduced Anri Okhanashvili as the candidate for Minister of Justice, emphasizing his expertise as one of the best lawyers in Georgia with both domestic and international education, including in Germany.
"Anri Okhanashvili does not require special introduction; he is one of the best professional lawyers in Georgia. He received deep education at Tbilisi State University and later completed his Master's degree at the University of Jena in Germany, where he also defended his doctoral dissertation at Humboldt University. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Parliament of Georgia, and for many years, he held the position of Chair of the Legal Committee, achieving great success in all areas of his work. Anri Okhanashvili is an associate professor at Tbilisi State University and the author of numerous scientific works. I am confident that he will be a very good Minister of Justice, and I wish him success in his work," added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
For the position of Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Prime Minister of Georgia nominated David Songhulashvili, emphasizing his professional background and education in economics.
"I would like to present the candidacy of David Songhulashvili for Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. He also does not require special introduction. David Songhulashvili has deep knowledge in the relevant field, having completed studies in business and economics at the Caucasus Business School and the Grenoble School of Business. He is an international business master's graduate and has been a member of the Georgian Parliament for many years. He has chaired various committees, including the Committee on European Integration and the Committee on Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy, and has had a successful career in both the private sector and public service. David Songhulashvili is a professional, and we are confident that he will be an excellent Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture," added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Irakli Kobakhidze wished success to the nominated candidates.
"I am confident that under their leadership, we will achieve great success in all areas and the country will make progress in the directions that these candidates will lead.
Once again, I thank Ilia Darchiashvili, Rati Bregadze and Otar Shamugia. I also wish success to all three candidates," concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
