As the Head of Government pointed out, successful learning is the strongest foundation for success in life.
"I wish a successful new academic year to schoolchildren and students, especially first-graders and freshmen. A very important new stage is about to begin in their lives, and I want to wish success to them all. Successful learning is the strongest foundation for success in life. Thus, I wish everyone major success in learning. I also wish a successful new academic year to pedagogues," the Prime Minister stated.
Irakli Kobakhidze also spoke about upgrading school infrastructure, noting that the rehabilitation of 60 public schools will be completed in September and October.
"We are actively working toward the further bettering of school infrastructure. In September and October, the full rehabilitation of 60 public schools will be finalized. By the end of this year, the construction and rehabilitation of about 100 schools will be completed. As a result, over 28,000 students will continue studies in renewed international-standard schools. Also this fall, procedures will be launched for the construction of 15 public schools and the full rehabilitation of 23 schools, and every relevant school is meant to be equipped in line with modern standards. We will continue active pursuits in this direction," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
At today's Government meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated Merab Dvalishvili on winning the UFC.
"I would like to congratulate Merab Dvalishvili on his major victory. We were all keeping an eye on his formidable performance anticipated by all of Georgia with keen interest. Notably, a Georgian has been winning the UFC for 2 years in a row, a unique achievement speaking to our country's exceptional athletic talent and Georgian giftedness. It has been a long road for Merab toward this success, and double appreciation is due to this victory. In keeping with tradition, we, together with the Parliament Speaker, made a decision today to nominate Merab Dvalishvili for the highest state award," the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government spoke about economic growth rates, emphasizing that a 13% growth was achieved in July, and that maintaining high rates of economic growth is the best way to overcome unemployment and poverty.
"We had a 13% economic growth in July. Consequently, our average increase for 7 months made up 9.7%, the highest rate in Europe, among the region's countries. What matters to us most is maintaining these high economic growth rates that are naturally the best way to overcome unemployment and poverty. Of course, all this will gradually improve the level of prosperity in our country," Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
In addition, the Prime Minister, in today's Government meeting, discussed a large-scale project designed to construct 43 buildings and award apartments to 1,200 service members.
"This is an expression of our enormous respect for service members. Initiatives of this kind will improve the social conditions of service members and their families, also encouraging engagement in military service and empowering the Georgian Army," the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government thanked the Defense Minister for promptly responding in order to launch a new stage in the housing project for service members and presenting the relevant plan.
"Based on the principle of participation, service members will only pay 100 USD per m2. And, to cover this amount, zero-interest in-house financing will be put in place. Apartments will be allocated based on the family size. Service members will receive 50-, 80-, and 110-m2 apartments. This project will continue, an intention underpinned by our new Defense Code. Needless to say, such initiatives will improve the social conditions of service members and their families, also raising motivation among service members, and encouraging engagement in military service. And, ultimately, all this will empower the Georgian Army, one of our key priorities," the Prime Minister said.
