Government of Georgia – Prime Minister's Visits 2008 Year

Prime Minister’s Visit in Kakheti Region

On 4 October 2008, Prime Minister of Georgia Vladimer Gurgenidze visited Kakheti. As part of the visit, the Prime Minister checked on the progress of the vintage and toured Gurjaani Grape Concentrate Plant and Badiauri Winery.

Vladimer Gurgenidze said that he is content with the progress of the vintage and thanked the Ministry of Agriculture for good performance.

"The process this year is organized. The voucher system has worked. Quite a few vouchers have already been cashed," the Prime Minister of Georgia said.
Vladimer Gurgenidze also discussed opportunities to market quality wines. "The first thing that the American delegation arriving in Georgia a week ago told us is that Georgian wines will be added to the list of the products, for which Georgia pays no duty in America. This is very important, as America has the largest market", the Prime Minister added.

On the government initiative, 21 million Lari has been allocated to subsidize grape. Out of the sum, the vouchers of 6 million Lari have already been cashed.
