Prime Minister’s commentary on the planned amendments to be entered in the Tax Code

On May 30, the prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli gave explanations on the planned amendments to be entered in the Tax Code. As he explained, by joining the income and the social taxes the person hired for employment (a physical person) will not experience any losses, or in other words, the tax burden will not be aggravated for them. Dwelling on the above mentioned changes, as a minimum, the employee's remuneration (the net salary) will not decrease. The increase as well as decrease of the salary will entirely depend on the employer.

As for the persons who were only due to pay the 12% income tax, the tax will stay unchanged for three more years; on the other hand, the government will continue its work on gradual decrease of the amount of the said tax. By way of joining social and income taxes Georgian economics will profit approximately 155 million GEL.
