Commentary of the prime minister at the cabinet meeting

On May 23, At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli requested the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Petre Tsiskarishvili to brief the government members about the ongoing works for cleaning the blocked irrigation canals. In particular, he emphasized that approximately 10 days ago, as a result of heavy rains the Qvemo Alazani irrigation canal was blocked which caused problems in three regions. The cleaning works which were immediately started will finish today and already from May 24 irrigation water will be delivered to the Telavi, Gurjaani and Signaghi regions.

The prime minister of Georgia stated that this issue is of paramount importance and therefore, this year, all necessary conditions have been put in place for the rehabilitation of the irrigation systems; he ordered the minister of agriculture to pay utmost attention to the work undergoing in this respect and provide all the necessary aid in order to ensure a proper development of this project.
