Government of Georgia – Appearance 2007

The tradition of charitable works has been continued at the Government Chancellery

It should be stated with great confidence that charity has hundreds of times more force in a conflict zone, because people in such zones are far more sensitive and therefore, experience thirst for aid and compassion hundred times more than anywhere else.

With our small resources we could achieve a great accomplishment - the tendency of rehabilitation and construction was complemented with the tendency of restoring spiritual values; our support and care has become quite accessible to them. Small mattresses for training, little bags and other handmade decorations, the literature that we gathered, visual aid and the yard that we set for them creates the feeling that there are people in the capital city who wholeheartedly are willing to take care of the nursery school of this little village.

The icon of the Holy Virgin which had been brought from Jerusalem was blessed in our presence by the village priest father Davit. The peacekeepers had to escort our delegation in a roundabout way.

The banner with the inscription: "Forwards to victory" was put up in the yard, on which the Giant and Natsarkekhia (a character from Georgian folklore, "a good for nothing") are portrayed as if attending a NBI basketball match.

Mirian Gvelesiani, a Georgian person living in Germany, participated in this action; sending the village kids toys that he had collected by his class.

We were accompanied by the OSCE representative, a Bulgarian by origin with his Ossetian wife who was also acting as an interpreter for us. Participation in our action proved fascinating to them; as he told us, it has been his dream since his tenure in the mission began to have an opportunity to forge such a close relationship with the Georgian population.
