Prime Minister Noghaideli visits Didi Liakhvi gorge

On 27 February Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli visited the Didi Liakhvi gorge in the Georgian-controlled part of South Ossetia. He acquainted himself with the ongoing restoration works in the villages of Tamarasheni and Kekhvi, specifically: the installation of outdoor lighting along the Tamarasheni-Kekhvi road, gasification and rehabilitation works at the school gymnasium in Kekhvi. Zurab Noghaideli also visited the construction sites of a cultural centre in Tamarasheni and a kindergarten in Kekhvi. It was emphasized that all the villages in the conflict zone that are controlled by Georgia would be provided with natural gas. Notably, the Ossetian side refused to allow the gasification of their territory.

,,For the development of infrastructure in the Didi Liakhvi and Patara Liakhvi Gorges, as well as in the Prone river gorge, investments amounting to more than 10 million GEL will be allocated. Three million GEL will be spent on the rehabilitation of roads and 4 million GEL will be spent on irrigation systems. The reconstruction of educational facilities is also a priority: the rehabilitation of the kindergarten and the school gymnasium is underway while the renovation of all schools of the Gorge will be started and finished this year," Noghaideli said.
