On Friday, September 29 the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli at the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia received the minister for culture and tourism of Ukraine Igor Likhovoy. The meeting was attended by the Georgian minister for culture, monument protection and sports Giorgi Gabashvili.
The discussion mainly concerned the issue of holding of the Year of Ukraine in Georgia. The parties expressed the hope that the holding of the Year of Ukraine in Georgia will promote the relations between two countries. The Prime Minister was pleased that the ceremonial events will be held in various corners of Georgia. The Ukrainian party stated that they were very impressed with the process of renewal throughout Georgia. The Prime Minister underlined that one of the priorities of the Georgian economy is construction of the tourism infrastructure in the country. In his opinion the events planned in Georgia as well as the events which took place in Ukraine within the frames of the year of Georgia in Ukraine last year will promote the growth of the tourist flow in the country.
It was noted that until the end of 2006 will be held the bilateral visits of high-rank representatives of the Georgia and Ukraine authorities.
