Conference in Singapore

On September 17, 2006 the World Bank and International Financial Organization held the conference "Doing Business and Reforms Worldwide".

To the conference in a status of special guest was invited Mt. Zurab Noghaideli as the prime minister of the reformer N 1 country. Prime Minister of Georgia informed the participants about the reforms which had taken place in Georgia within the past two years, namely he taled about the measures taken in business registration, licensing and permit, labor law, foreign trade, financial sector and legal sphere. In conclusion he spoke about the future reforms in such fields as business closing, improvement of credit information etc.
The special attention of the audience attracted together with other reforms, the current reform of the legal sphere.

After Mr. Noghaideli the finance minister of Mexico (the Reformer N 3) Mr. Gil Diaz spoke about the current reforms of the financial sector.

The Prime Minister of Georgia held meetings with the manager of the International Financial Corporation Mr. Tunelle and WB General Director Mr. Willer. The main subject of the conversation was the results of research published by the corporation and plans of future cooperation (including road rehabilitation/construction and energy sector).

At the end of the visit the Prime Minister of Georgia will meet the President of Singapore Mr. Rama Nathan. The official visit of the Georgian delegation to Singapore will end on September 18.
