Visit of Kuwait Prime Minister in Georgia

On September 13 in Georgia with the two-day official visit arrived the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah. At the airport he was met by Zurab Noghaideli. After the official meeting Zurab Noghaideli expressed satisfaction about the return visit of the Kuwaiti Prime Minister and stated: "The Kuwaiti Prime Minister's visit to Georgia is very important. We have decided wot make the relations between two states closer. Noteworthy also is that the return visit of the Kuwaiti Prime Minister took place very quickly. Tomorrow we will sign the important agreement between Georgia and Kuwaiti fund. We are willing the Kuwaiti fund to take active participation in construction of the highway section towards the East since 2008. Mr. Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah is accompanied by a rather representative delegation of businessmen. I am sure that we will be able to attract investments from Kuwait. Georgia will be attractive for Kuwait residents for its tourist places both from the investing and recreation aspects."

In honor of the guest at the Rustaveli theatre was held the performance of Ilya Sukhishvili & Nino Ramishvili National Georgian Ballet.

The official meetings with the representatives of the Georgian authorities began on September 14. At the Chancellery of the Government the Kuwaiti Prime Minister was received by Zurab Noghaideli. They discussed the opportunities of implementation of state and private investments in Georgia and noted that the Government of Georgia applied to the Kuwaiti Government for promotion and intensification of the economic relations of Georgia with the Near-Eastern countries and countries of Persian Gulf. The Prime Minister thanked for "that assistance which we have received for restoration of Georgian roads; signed agreements which provide rehabilitation of roads in Tbilisi."

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister thanked for the cordial greeting and hospitality and expressed hope that the relations between our countries will be improved more and invited the delegation of Georgia to the national liberty holiday of the country in February 2007.

After the meeting the president invited the Kuwaiti delegation to the working lunch at the restaurant "Meidan".

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister also met with the Chairperson of the Georgian Parliament Mrs. Nino Burjanadze. They highlighted the issues of economic relations. The chairperson of the Georgian Parliament positively assessed the cooperation with the Kuwaiti Fund and noted that for Georgia the implemented and planned projects are very important, including the project for rehabilitation of the road infrastructure. Nino Burjanadze stated that lately in Georgia were cerated favorable conditions and security guaranteed for attraction of foreign investments under the stable legislative basis acknowledged by the international organizations.

The delegation was seen off by the Prime Minister.
