Meeting of the 3 October 2008

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 3 October 2008. The agenda consisted of 1 item only. According to Vladimer Gurgenidze, the consideration of the final version of the changes in the 2008 budget is a very important question. He said that the Government did all it could in the existing situation. The Prime Minister thanked the US Government for financial support. It is presumed that the funds in aid to Georgia will be allocated this year.

The Prime Minister advised those present about the donors' conference to be held in Brussels on 22 October. "It won't draw European countries or USA only. A number of other countries have been invited to the conference. We can already thank in advance many of our friends and partners for their multiple support and efforts, including financial aid."
At the Meeting Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze put forward the initiative to remove Stalin's monument from Gori Central Square. "We do not fight history, past but I think that in the modern free Georgia everything must be where they belong to. I raise the initiative to set up a branch of the Occupation Museum in Gori and move Stalin's monument, too, in there." The Prime Minister said Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze's proposal was timely and fitting.
