Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2008 Year

Meeting of the 11 September 2008

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 11 September 2008.

Before the commencement of the Meeting, the Prime Minister informed the audience that the Meeting was considering a very important issue - proposal to make changes in the 2008 budget. "The time has come for us to make the first sketch and start work on the issue with the Parliament. The contours of aid from our friends are becoming clearer with each passing day. The first few trenches of the billion-dollar aid pledged by the US Government have already become clear. For instance, they have already made a statement to add 100 million under the Millennium Program.

The Prime Minister stated that direct discussions with Europe have been launched to sign the Free Trade Agreement. This is the process that requires some time but as soon as it is finished, Georgia will actually become very closely integrated into the European economic system. Similar discussions will start with the US Government. On 1 October, Georgia is expecting a US delegation to discuss such issues as free trade and so forth," Vladimer Gurgenidze said.
