The Government Meeting of 20 February 2008

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 20 February 2008. The agenda of the Meeting consisted of 36 items.

At the commencement of the Meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia Vladimer Gurgenidze said that on 19 February an intensive dialogue with the public was launched in connection with the implementation of the 50-Day Program of the Government of Georgia. He said: to this end, the Government will have plenty of work to do. A plan has been developed by which the ministries will conduct 7-8 events each week. Besides, it was of great importance to ensure a high degree of accountability, as the information on the program implementation that will be provided to the media will also be placed at the website.

The Prime Minister of Georgia called on the ministries to cooperate closer with the representatives of the media and the public, adding: people must be able to see that we are working hard and in a target-oriented manner, not chaotically, that three core objectives of our work is to address unemployment and raise investments, help revive the village, pensions and social allowances, and the Government will do its best to address them to make sure that all the components of the 50-Day Program are fulfilled without fail and within the fixed terms.
