Meeting of the 27 September 2006

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 27 September 2006. The Agenda consisted of 28 items.

At the commencement of the Meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia focused the attention of those present on 27 September - the date of fall of Sukhumi. Zurab Noghaideli said that from that day on, after 13 years, 27 September for Georgia would become the day of not only pain but also pain and the beginning of the return of Abkhazia. The Prime Minister informed the Government members that that day the President of Georgia would meet the members of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, local residents and foreign guests in a renovated Kodori Gorge.

The Prime Minister of Georgia reminded those present that the week before the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the NATO member countries had made a decision on inviting Georgia for an intensified dialogue with NATO. He said that the measure marked that the reforms made in the defence and other sectors of Georgia had been ranked highly though from that time on all must realize that there was even more work to do in the Ministry of Defence and other structures in order to make further steps on the way to Georgia's accession to NATO.
