Meeting of the 20 September 2006

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 20 September 2006. The Agenda consisted of 17 items.

At the beginning, the Prime Minister of Georgia focused on the study conducted by International Finance Corporation of World Bank naming Georgia reformer country N1. In terms of the reforms for the last 12 months, Georgia has jumped up from 112th to the 37th place.

Zurab Noghaideli also discussed his working visit to Singapore. The main topic of the visit was the successful reforms carried out in Georgia. "During the visit, the example of Singapore vividly demonstrated the importance attached to the right reform policy, particularly for the countries suffering a lack of various resources. We are on the right track. It is very important and pleasant that in terms of her reform policy, Georgia is to a certain extent becoming a trend-setter for other countries. Naturally, we must continue in-depth reforms in areas not fundamentally reformed yet. The economic team has been given the relevant assignments. We need to improve the investment environment and consequently accelerate the rate of Georgia's economic development," Zurab Noghaideli said.
