The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 2 August 2006. The Agenda consisted of 12 items.

At the beginning of the Meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli informed the audience that, in recent days, in addition to Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia I. Merabishvili and Minister of Defence of Georgia I. Okruashvili, Jambul Bakuradze, the Deputy Head of the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia, the Head of the Department for Regional Affairs, K. Akishbaia, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and R. Dalakishvili, the Chairman of the Motorway Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia, had been to Kodori Gorge. Their goal was to study the situation and problems in Kodori Gorge and work out measures to settle them. He said that the representative of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia would also visit Kodori Gorge that day.

The Prime Minister of Georgia informed the audience that the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia would be accommodated in Chkhalta Village where, just like in Azhara Village, the adequate infrastructure would be developed for the Government members. He said that the hospital in Azhara Village was in a normal condition, though it needed re-equipment, on which the decision had already been made. All the schools in the Gorge would be renovated. Despite the adverse relief (the pass is located 2600 m above sea level). The motorway would be rehabilitated and measures would be carried out to rehabilitate the local airport. As the Prime Minister of Georgia said, all the planned works must be completed in mid September in line with the instruction from the President of Georgia.

The Prime Minister of Georgia touched upon the financial performance indicators of July. He said that the tax revenue plan of the previous month had been fulfilled with 38.5 million Lari in surplus. Compared to the similar period of the past year, the value added tax collection figure had increased by 30% and the wage fund of private enterprises - by 35%. He said it was very important that compared with June, July had witnessed a 3.6 million Lari increase in the private sector wage fund, marking a growth in the number of the employed.

To attest to the above, the Prime Minister cited the example of Guria, where he had been in recent days. The Prime Minister said that motorway rehabilitation works were underway in Guria on Sajavakho-Chokhatauri, Poti-Ureki, Kakuti-Ozurgeti and Ozurgeti-Natanebi sections. Those works were being conducted by the construction company that had been founded the year before. The company had employed 220 persons in the first year and 300 persons in the second year in the region. That was a specific example of how employment rate was growing. That was the core objective of the Government - to provide the economic development opportunities offering as many private sector jobs as possible to Georgian citizens against adequate consideration.

The Prime Minister of Georgia assigned Minister of Finance of Georgia A. Aleksishvili to inform the population in detail on the financial performance indicators of July.
