The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 4 July 2006. The Agenda consisted of 23 items.
At the beginning of the Meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli informed the Government members that the tax revenue target had been fulfilled exceedingly. The draft changes to the budget had been submitted to the Parliament and would be approved towards the end of the month. He also said: the first six months of the year have ended with a proficit, the revenues were much higher than the costs of the deficit financing. The detailed information on the semi-annual results will be provided by the Ministry at the Government meeting at the end of the month. He will also provide the material to the mass media to highlight it in an adequate manner. It should also be mentioned that approximately 10 thousand people were additionally employed in Georgia in June. The total figure for the first six months has reached 80 thousand that is very important for the development of our economy. At the same time, it should be noted that in June we had 0.2% deflation but, nevertheless, fighting inflation continues to be the main challenge for the Government.
