Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2006 Year

Meeting of the 21 June 2006

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 21 June 2006. The Agenda consisted of 33 items.

At the beginning of the Meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli reminded the audience that as a result of the measures taken, since the past winter it had proved possible to provide Georgia with 24-hour power supply. He said that another important stage of the energy sector reform had been completed a few days before: three distribution and nine generation facilities had been privatized in the energy sector. As a result, all the energy facilities in Georgia had their specific investors and owners. The investments in the sector would be continued to make power supply much more trouble-free and stable. He said that the objective of the Government was to direct investments in the assets, which still remained in the state ownership, particularly in high-voltage power transmission lines, to make sure that the problems in that area were as few as possible and were reduced to zero in the future.
