Meeting of the 11 January 2006

The Meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 11 January 2006. The Government discussed 28 items of the agenda.

At the commencement of the Meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia touched upon two important issues for the attention of the press. In particular, he said that based on the studies conducted by Heritage Foundation, in 2005 Georgia had the largest progress in terms of economic liberty index, jumping 32 points up to the 68th place. Particularly positive evaluations were in the following three directions: government intervention in/regulation of the economy, banking and financial sector, and fiscal policy.

The Prime Minister also touched upon the issue of bird flue. At the briefing held on the topic after the Government meeting, Zurab Noghaideli dilated the efforts to be made towards preventing the spread of the bird flue virus, introducing the Government decisions to that end to the media.
