The Prime Minister took part in the international conference

10 February, the Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri opened the IV international conference.

"European Way of Georgia" - implementation of the European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan in Georgia. The problems of Russian - Georgian conflict, democratic and economic reforms will be considered at the conference. The conference will touch the following basic three directions.

Conflict settlement session is dedicated to the actual situation crated after the Russian aggression and occupation of the Georgian territories, the role of EU in settlement of the conflict, fulfillment of the (six-paragraph agreement", Geneva negotiations, importance and problems of EU monitoring mission (EUMM) .
Democratic reforms session will consider "a new wave of democratic reforms" the aim of which is strengthening of the role of the parliament and independence of courts, freedom of mass media and improvement of security of proprietary rights.

Economic reforms session will focus on perspectives of large and all-inclusive free trade of EU and Georgia, impact of global financial crisis on the Georgian economy and Action Program of the Government of Georgia, development of agriculture.

"We'll consider the urgent issues such as Russian - Georgian conflict, results of the Russian occupation and peaceful ways for elimination thereof. Of course, we want EU to be involved in the process of deoccupation of Georgia and settlement of the conflict with Russia to the maximum extent. We'll also consider the ongoing independent reforms where we wish the EU to take more active part. One of the most important issues is the role of EU in terms of conflict zones. Please be advised that the EU Monitoring Mission is now in Georgia and activation of its role is very important. Besides, we have considered many other issues and will continue this process. Very soon we'll start negotiations regarding free trade and simplification of visa regime", stated Nika Gilauri.
