PM’s visit to Turkmenistan Print Version

The Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri was in Turkmenistan where an Energy Safety Forum was held on April 23-24, 2009. During the forum the parties talked about implementation of gas pipeline projects of NABUCO and TETRI NAKADI.

Within the scope of the visit the Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri met the President of Turkmenistan Gurnbanguli Berdimuhamed.

According to Nika Gilauri, this meeting is, first of all, important because it was the first time that Turkmenistan expressed his will to take part in international energy programs. Accordingly, such international forum will be held in this country for the first time.

"In fact, it is the first time that Turkmenistan said that it was ready to take part in the energy corridor, i.e. West-East Corridor in future. This decision is vitally important for NABUCO Project Implementation", - said Nika Gilauri.

According to the Georgian Prime Minister, it is very important because European countries awoke more interest in the Caspian Sea energy resources and quick implementation of NABUCO and TETRI NAKADI projects.
