Government of Georgia – Prime Minister's Visits 2009 Year

Prime Minister’s Visit to Indonesia

Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri has travelled on a working visit to Indonesia to take part in the Annual Meeting of the Governing Board of Asian Development Bank.

Before the trip, the Prime Minister said that at the meeting they are going to sign an agreement to allocate nearly 90 million US dollars towards the road infrastructure rehabilitation to be carried out this and next years. "Besides, 30 million US dollars will be intended for the Municipal Development Fund that implements municipal projects in regions. These funds are not intended for the bank sector but I'd like to state that we'll discuss the matter, too. Asian Development Bank has a separate institute working exclusively on the banking sector. Asian Development Bank does not directly deal with the banking sector. We are going to have meetings to explore the opportunities for starting assistance to the banking sector," Nika Gilauri said.

"Talks will be held to allocate over 200 million US dollar investments for Georgia in 2009. Besides, we'll discuss the investments for 2010 as well. I'd like to say and express thanks to Asian Development Bank for the fact that the budget assistance will actually increase from 40 million to at least 70 million US dollars . The amount may just as well double this year," he added.
