The head of press-service of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nikoloz Mchedlishvili held the presentation of the updated web-site of the GovernmentOn October 19, 2010 at the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia the head of press-service of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nikoloz Mchedlishvili held the presentation of
the updated web-site of the Government.

Below is given the statement of Mr. Nikoloz Mchedlishvili:

"Today I would like to present to you the updated web-site of the Government Chancellery (www.government.gov.ge). The web-site was created by company ITDC. By its design and content it is different from the old web-site.

We wanted to place the information on this web-site more helpfully. For the first time we display on our web-site the video tape where you can watch the addresses of the Prime Minister and briefings held by the Prime Minister's office.

In addition we have added the photo gallery where the citizens and journalists can find various photos of the Prime Minister's and Chancellery's activities.

However, we think that the main merit of this web-site is that besides the Georgian and English languages it is made in Abkhazian. As you are aware, under the Constitution of Georgia the Abkhazian language is the second official language after the Georgian language on the territory of Georgia.
The head of press-service of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nikoloz Mchedlishvili held the presentation of the updated web-site of the Government
Since now our Abkhaz citizens who live on the occupied territory will be able to read information about the activity of the Government of Georgia in their native language. In addition, the Abkhazs who are living in other countries will be able to enter this web-site and to view the desired information.

I would like to provide acknowledgement of the Prime Minster and the Government Chancellery for their support in the process of development of the new web-site.
When we were starting development of a new web-site the Government press-speaker Ms. Leila Avidzba motioned the idea on addition of the Abkhaz language to the web-site. I would like to thank her much for such a great idea and for her valuable work during development of the web-site.

I would also like to thank my lecturer and teacher at the Tbilisi State University Mr. Zurab Shengelia and his Institute for Georgian-Abkhazian Relations for their support at the initial stage of work and provided translations.

I appreciate the help of the Head of Information Technologies Department Giorgi Jichoshvili and his team and company ITDC for the provided service".
