Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of April 28, 2010

Meeting of the Government as of April 28, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held in Telavi on 28 April 2010. The agenda consisted of 26 items.

Prior to the meeting, the Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri focused on the following issues.

Speech of the Prime Minister:

"This year we spent more than 130 million lari in Kakheti for drinking water project, as well as school rehabilitation and repair, roads, road infrastructure, bridges, outdoor lighting and many other projects. One of the main projects is Gomobori road which will be finished by this October. 22 mln lari is allocated from the budget for this project. Besides, funds for this road are, partly, allocated by Asian Development Bank. Accordingly, we'll fulfill the promise we gave to Kakheti residents two years ago and finish this road.

I want to say once more that the said projects are very good; some of them have been implemented in Kakheti, although much remained to be done. We'll do much in future because the main thing is creation of jobs.

We are implementing infrastructural projects to combat unemployment and create jobs in this region in order to employ as many residents as possible. This is our main mission, this was our mission and we'll follow this way in future.

Please note that we are making our first steps towards this mission - a private sector should have its own access road, electricity, gas, appropriate law, with no corruption and it should easily and freely activate its enterprise, earn profit and involve local population. This is our mission and the goal of this infrastructure project which are implementing in Kakheti and other Georgian regions.
The other question to be considered before the meeting is natural disaster due to which Kakheti is in a tight box. I want to say not only local government will be in involved in the fight against this natural disaster but the central government as well. Everything will be done to settle this problem asap."
