Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of May 5, 2010

Meeting of the Government as of May 5, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held in Rustavi on 5 May 2010. The agenda consisted of 51 items.

Before the start of the meeting the Prime Minister highlighted several issues. Here's Nika Gilauri's speech:

"First of all, I'd like to declare that one of the main priorities of our Government for this period is to conduct transparent and proper election process in May, 2010. Our aim is to fully adhere to the international principles. For this purpose we are doing our best and we have already done much.
As you know we have cooperated with the opposition parties for the recent period and made considerable changes to the election legislation, media sphere, establishment of election commission.

In order to ensure as transparent election process as possible, we invited.....observers. More than 400 international observers will arrive in Georgia to observe the election process here. I'd like to give advance notice to and ask all the public officers to meet the Election Code requirements as the person violating the Election Code will be punished under the law. It's very important that the administrative resources have not been applied to these elections. We want to prove to the world that Georgia won't deviate from the road to democracy. Thus, I once again warn and ask all the
public officers to obey all the rules and laws provided by the Election Code. I'd like to start the Government meeting with this issue.

As for the agenda of the meeting of the Government in particular and the items covered thereby, we are going to hold the meeting in Rustavi. Of course, the main items will relate to Kvemo Kartli, those projects that are being implemented in Kvemo Kartli, what we are going to do here, what problems exist in this region and how we are going to solve such problems in future.

I'd like to say that this year 162 million lari will be spent in Kvemo Kartli. I'm not sure whether so much money has ever been spent in this Region before. The funds will be expended on the rural program, reconstruction and repair of schools, repair of the road infrastructure and water infrastructure - and on many important projects."
